I think we'll call him ....

....Archie!  it's taken a bit of deliberation, consultation with daughters etc...but we think he suits his name!

He really is sweet...he's even had baby gifts! Friends arrived with booties for him and a carrot bouquet for Mum!!

This is a photo of a photo, as in the excitement of the bootie fitting I left my camera in the house...he was very good about wearing his gift...

and a few more photos! cos you know how it is with new babies!

...what was that you said Mum?

It's been a lovely week, my lovely oncologist and oncology nurses have given me a week off chemo so I have been feeling good...and it's been a week of parcels!
A surprise parcel filled with goodies from my daughter..

some rosy fabrics that will be fun to sew...

A very pretty shirt in my favourite colours...and she finds the coolest books....

The Seashore book has exquisite water colour illustrations...

...we had a night at the seaside it was very relaxing.

when you find yourself in a difficult spot you just have to do the best you can!

I have done a little bit of crafting this week too, put some doilies on bathmats and towels for a wedding gift to a friends daughter.

did some stitching and crocheted edgings on some tea towels, knitted some dish cloths too.

...ordered and received a parcel for myself..

.

some Greengate china....I love it!!

We had a trip through to Dunedin for me to have an MRI, and we did call at one second hand shop...I was very restrained ..just one book and a plate for $3...

...the book is an Enid Blyton one .....

Have done some gardening....early autumn flowers are doing their thing...

....posies from friends...

The sun is getting lower in the sky ....it threw some shadows from the lace curtains in our room onto the wall.....

 Have a happy week.

Raindrops on roses...

....and whiskers on donkeys....

...on his little chinny chin chin...

..big baby eye...

..cutest wee tail....

..tiniest wee hooves....

...sweetest natural fringe.....

...just outright adorable....

...taking a little nap...it's hard work keeping those ears up!

soft as velvet nose...very kissable!

...seeing you...

..all this attention is thirsty work!

....we are besotted  !!

When I can drag myself away from the donkey paddock and walk round the garden you can smell the autumn perfumes...
...I love rosehips, I have a large bed of spinnossima (scottish roses) when they are flowering the scent is heady...but the colours of their hips ...just beautiful.

I'm not sure what rose this is, it has a single pale pink, briar like flower with a wild rose sort of perfume, even the foliage seems to give off a faint rose fragrance. Every year it had a wonderful display of rosehips, great for picking and bringing inside.

..plump rugosa hip.

My flower fairy language of flowers book has this to say .

"I saw old Autumn
in the misty morn
stand shadowless like silence,
listening to silence."

(Thomas Hood)

We had a lovely thick mist this morning  the dew drops had collected like jewels on everything..making it all very magical.

The smoke bush especially was enchantingly adorned.

..these little cyclamen  also embellished ...

The fish drifted lazily in the pond...

...the pink berried Rowan tree laden with berries...

...fascinating folklore attached to the Rowan tree.

..the laburnum pods gently swaying..

..this bumblebee became quite vexed as I followed him from flower to flower...eventually almost disappearing...

bum.....blebee!

 The corn is ripening.

 The fennel has seedheads...
I have to bring some inside.. the liquorice redolence just speaks to me of autumn.

This afternoon I intend to do some sewing, doilies from the stash are part of the plan.

This post includes donkeys and doilies but the nearest thing to a daisy this week would have to be the yellow flowers in the neighbours paddock .

"On the motionless branches of some trees, autumn berries hung like clusters of coral beads, as in those fabled orchards where the fruits were jewels..."
 (Charles Dickens)

New baby donkey

On a lovely warm sunny morning..our new baby donkey was born!!!

We have been waiting for ages and finally Mr super cuteness has arrived!

..brand new...

such gorgeous ears!

getting a cuddle.

..checking out the world....

...still working out how to get my legs co-ordinated....

so soft and fluffy...like velvet...

...all this adoration can make a wee chap a bit weary...

... he was born on Thursday and now seems  to have all limbs pretty much under control....there has been unabandoned frolicking going on...plenty of hoppity skips and shows of braveness!
.....he is as yet nameless....
......we are in love!!!!

The mornings have been beautiful, still and quiet with the fog clinging to the hollows of the land...autumn is quietly opening her door.

Have a happy week
